Stock Watch: building an observation list — Vyra Securities investor education

Write down why it is being watched

Define the business development, result, valuation change or industry event that made the company relevant. A clear reason prevents price movement alone from driving the decision.

Track business quality and risk

Review revenue drivers, margins, cash generation, debt, governance, concentration and disclosures. Also record what evidence would weaken the original thesis.

Keep observation separate from action

A watchlist is a research tool, not a buy list. Suitability, time horizon, portfolio concentration and the possibility of loss still need separate consideration.
