Begin with trend and timeframe
A chart can look bullish on one timeframe and weak on another. State whether the observation is intraday, short-term or long-term before interpreting the pattern.
Use price with participation
Volume and market breadth can help judge whether a move has broad support. Support and resistance are zones of prior behaviour, not fixed barriers.
Define invalidation and position risk
Every technical view can fail. Identify the level or condition that would invalidate it and size exposure so that one incorrect view does not dominate the portfolio.
